Our Own MRKH App - At What Cost? And Why?

Community is Everything

It can feel like we are everywhere but still not quite together.

On Facebook we can join seperate groups but we cannot create smaller spaces within them to have those focused chats that really matter. Posts can get lost in feeds and discussions are lost.

On WhatsApp we can send quick messages and head to sub groups, but we cannot find tailored support, links to wider resources, or see advanced profiles of who we are talking to - to know more about the people in our community.

MRKH support, courses and platforms are spread across so many different websites and places. We deserve our space. Our ecosystem. Our support network. Where we can all truly belong.

Charities and community leaders can build.

Established groups and events will bloom.

Every MRKHer can belong.

It's a no brainer.

The MRKH App brings it all into one place. One click and you can see everything you need, meet others who understand, and feel part of something built for us.

That is why Nestii CIC, a registered not for profit founded by Ellamae, are working on collaborating with charities and MRKH people globally to fund and launch the MRKH App named MyRoki (by community vote!) - a single space created just for our global community.

It starts with the things that matter most: community, chats, sub groups, events, and the exciting one- online courses. Here, you can join groups that feel like your own, access tailored courses all in one place, and start to build real support that fits your life.

From this foundation everything else will grow. Builders can create new spaces, events can be organised easily, and no one has to look in multiple places anymore. The MRKH App is your one space to learn, share, and belong.

How We Can Build This?

The Nestii CIC team have been working hard.

It started with a dream, where our community vision (groups, events, sub groups, friend match) met other personal tools (mood tracker, courses, diary) and builder tools (build resources, track impact). For this, we wanted a native app called MyRoki, where we truly all belong.

A native app would be fully coded and uniquely branded so "MyRoki" would sit as an app on your home screen and we would code this from scratch.

We brought the vision to the table (and all your feedback so far) just to start mapping out the

DREAM VS REALITY in £££££.

After plenty of discussions with different developers, these are our realistic options for the software only:

1. Build from the ground up - Initial build (MVP): £20,000 to £25,000- Ongoing support and hosting: £15,000 to £20,000 per year.

2. Build a custom app on top of an off-the-shelf platform - Initial build (MVP): approximately £15,000 with Ongoing support and hosting: approximately £10,000 per year

3. Branded app, existing software £4000 per year (not inc peer-led management costs)

4. Non-branded platform software- with community spaces, events and courses £2000 per year (not inc peer-led management costs)

So, we'll start with #4 and work our way up over time, depending on user needs and success.

The other ongoing costs for this project, even with option 4, will be:

• Product development and building a space that works for us

• Community involvement and ambassadors.

• Marketing / branding

• Moderation of users

• Course funding in app

We will be applying for funds to bring this space to life, and will be working with various community builders and charities over the coming months to secure these funds and get the initial platform running.

Our big news is... WE HAVE SOMEWHERE TO BUILD. And this is exciting.

Our year 1 funding aim is still £15,000 so we can secure our space and build on this app for as long as possible.
